In this week's Playlist we present a selection of videos by our our members which feature darkness in some form.


Brighid Black, The Hungry Ghosts, 2012

Moving image work in various formats which was developed during an AA2A residency at Teesside University October 2011-April 2012. The film was exhibited alongside print works, also made during the residency, in the exhibition 'Shadows' at the Constantine Gallery, Teesside University, Middlesborough.

Stella Whalley, Bad Witches, 2017

On show at EMPIRE 11 at Venice 57th Biennale 2017


Whalley & Bricheno explore the relationship between sound and vision; particularly the way they interact and reinforce each other's impact through sonic and visual rhythms and accents. In 'Bad Witches' they present the viewer with a short sequence of film clips, from a variety of sources. Taking out the original sound replacing with their own compositions of music and sound effects to build a tension and create various emotional states in the viewer.

Diane Roberts, Dark Matters, 2017

The Dark Matters' attempts to draw attention to the issue of light pollution which impacts on bird migration and contributes to global warming.

Kirsty E. Smith, Deep Space Moolog (film), 2016

 

7 minute film which forms part of the installation, Deep Space Moolog
This short film draws together vintage sci-fi, Neolithic cave drawings and the possibility of Time Travel.
