Artist Statement

Zoe Fudge is a sculptor whose work explores materials and form. Her background and training in Architecture informs her work through the production of accumulative series of constructions which test and explore themes around structure, connections and material qualities. Through development studies exploring scale, repetition and materiality, her work explores a tension that arises from the delicacy of construction and the inherent qualities of particular materials. The works invite the viewer to experience an imagined visual occupation of the works, engaging our fascination with the miniature. Her training in Architecture at one of the world’s most experimental schools of Architecture, the Bartlett, University College London honed her making and drawing skills whilst giving the freedom to explore and test ideas relating to the built environment. This education has been valuable in shaping her work and reinforced her enjoyment in making. Working from her studio in Tottenham, London she is motivated by industrial and urban constructions and structures in contrast to vast open space.
